OUR PLANET IS IN CRISIS

It is well known that climate change is a serious existential threat, which accelerates and exacerbates all other global social-environmental problems, from biodiversity loss to inequality, war and conflict.

What kind of education do we
need to adapt to and mitigate our
climatic and related crises?

Our current educational frameworks have failed us. It is clear that we need new approaches and paradigms. The experiences of climate scientists and scholars in the My Climate Risk (MCR) Lighthouse Activity working with local communities around the world are a valuable resource for re-visioning climate and environmental education. My Climate Risk is a Lighthouse Activity of the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP)

This website hosts the My Climate Risk Education Working Group, seeking to serve educators, education policymakers, and all those interested in re-visioning climate education, through our events, articles, resources, and educational projects.

A network of connections

The metaphor for My Climate Risk (MCR) is the mycorrhizal network and its realization is an informal system of regional hubs, many of them in the Global South. Climate scientists in these regional hubs work with scholars across disciplines, including anthropologists, to engage with communities, from municipalities to farmers’ groups to marginalized groups, to collaboratively generate meaningful and actionable climate information.
